Educator Academy in the Amazon

The Educator Academy In the Amazon project has closed, but you can still make a gift to the program today! Please visit our website, select "Other" in the designation field, and type "Amazon Educator Academy CF" as the designation.

Educator Academy

The 2018 Educator Academy in the Amazon Rainforest is a transformational, cross-curricular professional development workshop for educators to use and learn instructional approaches and protocols while exploring one of the world’s most important natural resources - the Amazon Rainforest. The Educator Academy is designed to engage participants in hands-on investigations, citizen science research projects, and inquiry-based learning activities to deepen understanding of the rainforest ecosystem and its global importance.

Assistant Professor of STEM Education Janelle Johnson and three secondary science teacher candidates will be attending the academy. The students were selected by a panel of three faculty members.

Your support would directly impact our students by giving them the opportunity to gain professional experience in the Amazon Rainforest and enhance their overall teaching of the rainforest. Your gift would help us purchase flights, meals, field equipment and much more. Thank you for helping us reach our goal!
